Bodies Revealed

OdySea in the Desert

November 1, 2018 – May 12, 2019

The ‘Bodies Revealed’ exhibit is on display daily at OdySea in the Desert. The exhibit looks in-depth at the intricate, complicated workings of internal organs, musculature, respiratory, nervous, skeletal systems and more! The entire body is on display in various poses to give guests a comprehensive view of how all our bodies work. Admission is $19.95 per person.

Fragments: Broken Bowls Tell More Tales

Pueblo Grande Museum and Archaeological Park

October 2, 2018 – July 31, 2019

This wonderful exhibit examines the details of pottery vessels, how they were made, used, by whom, and where. All these details brought to life through the intense study of their pieces. It features pieces that connect Hohokam with their neighbors across the Southwest centuries past. Visitors will get to see these pieces and all the while listen to traditional O’odham songs telling tales of the surrounding mountains. This exhibit is included with the regular museum admission.

The Scottsdale Museum of the West

October 2nd – December 30th, 2018

This exhibit features a selection of emerging, upcoming artists in the Western region, pushing the boundaries of contemporary art. The exhibit is included with museum admission, which varies by age. Museum members and children under 5 get in free!

Victorian Secrets: The Unmentionable Tour at Rosson House

Heritage Square

October 5th – November 30th, 2018

This tour about the Rosson House is all about laying bare the everyday Victorian life. Taking you through the home and into the usually restricted attic space, the tour goes over all sorts of things from medical treatments of the time to keeping clean in a dirty world. After the tour guests will go to the nearby Bungalow for food and drink, included in the ticket price of $25. This event happens weekly, on Fridays.

Cosmic Playground Experience at the Arizona Science Center

October 6th, 2018 – January 13th, 2019

The opening of the new Cosmic Playground experience is designed to delight space lovers of all ages. It is a space-inspired, community art installation meant to be climbed, slid, and explored. The pieces are made to resemble cosmic events like wormholes, black holes, and stars,  all made from packing tape! The cosmic playground is a shoe-free environment and guests will need to wear clean socks or buy a pair at the center for $1. Admission is ~$4 in addition to general admission costs.

Phoenix Art Museum

October 6th, 2018 – January 27th, 2019

This major traveling exhibit, organized by the de Young Museum in San Francisco, is coming to Phoenix! Bringing more than 250 unique artifacts from the National Museum of Anthropology in Mexico City.  Teotihuacan was the largest, most influential, and first metropolis on the American continent. It ruled between 100 B.C.E. and 650 C.E. and had a population of over 150,000. But Teotihuacan was not its original name. It’s peoples, and its name are unknown, as the city was discovered abandoned by the Aztecs in the 14th century. Discover all of this, and more when you head to the Phoenix Art Museum, open everyday but Monday.

Desert Botanical Garden

October 12th, 2018 – May 12th, 2019

Experience the desert like never before! The botanical garden becomes the canvas for a nighttime exhibit featuring light and original music. There are six specific locations inside the exhibit, and it reoccurs daily. Visit the Desert Botanical Garden website for more information and hours.
